On September 27, 2010, President Obama signed into law the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010 (the “Act”) which includes a number of tax breaks and incentives for businesses. Well, here’s some good news on the economic front: as expected, the House approved the small business bill I reported on last week. The measure passed by a vote of 237-187, with all but thirteen Democrats and one Republican supporting the bill.

U.S. Census Bureau Issues Report On Franchising
For the first time ever, the U.S. Census Bureau issued a report today on the nation’s franchised businesses. The report, entitled the Economic Census Franchise Report, found that franchise businesses account for 10.5 percent of all businesses operating in the U.S., and nearly 17 percent of the total amount of sales made in the country, with nearly $1.3 trillion dollars in sales annually.
